(Rain date: Sunday, July 28th 3:15pm First boat | 4:15pm Event)
Aucocisco, Fort Gorges
About
Join Hogfish, Friends of Fort Gorges, and the Wild Seed Project for an event like no other this summer.
Beauty is often one of the first invitations to connect. How could the beauty of a summer afternoon in Aucocisco, on modern day Fort Gorges, with gorgeous meditative indigenous and non-indigenous collaborative music weaving in the sounds of nearby plants, while receiving gentle hands-on-healing help you to connect? What would happen if we all took a moment together to allow our eardrums and our hearts to be moved by the beauty of the sound of all living beings coming together to make a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts? How can we re-sound history in a place like Fort Gorges for a better future?
Enjoy a boat ride across Aucocisco, present day Casco Bay, and quickly arrive at Fort Gorges. Stroll into the courtyard, put down a yoga mat or picnic blanket or sit in the grass, and invite yourself to listen to the ocean waves and call of the birds, while hands-on-healers offer their assistance to leave your cares behind and enter the presence of the sensory world. The musical offerings will begin with Hogfish artist-in-residence and Wabanaki singer and dancer Isaac Syliboy who will be joined by Hogfish artist-in-residence and composer/bassist Evan Premo for 40 minutes of instrumental loop-based improvisation for meditation and deep listening, where Evan weaves in music produced live from the electrical impulses of native plants selected by the Wild Seed Project.
At the end of the meditation, spend time exploring the island on your own or on a guided tour, go for a swim, or continue to listen to the reverberations in the space and in your soul.

Jessica Labonte
(pronouns she/her)
Reiki II Practitioner, Certified Restorative Yoga Instructor, Artisan Baker
Founder of The Reiki Baker
Jessica's career is intertwined with a deep commitment to holistic wellness and a passion for integrating embodied food creation practices. Her background stems from over a decade in the service industry as an artisan sourdough baker. In 2017, she relocated from western MA to Maine.
As Jessica moved through her baking practices (and as the world shifted with the pandemic), she began to witness the ways in which those who show up each day to serve need nourishing practices and support. Her work in Reiki and restorative yoga stems from these personal experiences seeking supportive, regenerative, and grounding techniques herself. In childhood, Jessica was introduced to Reiki energy through her mother. In 2023, she became attuned in Reiki I and II. Reiki became a guide through Jessica’s own healing journey.
Driven by a desire to offer comprehensive support in wellness, Jessica pursued a certification in restorative yoga in March 2024. Her journey took a poignant turn with the completion of an End-of-Life Doula training from the University of New England in May 2024.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Jessica delights in exploring the natural beauty of Maine through hiking and beach outings with her partner. She loves to read and will always say yes to an ice cream date.
Within her practice, The Reiki Baker, Jessica aspires to create a space where those who serve others are held and served themselves.

The regenerative nature of art to nurture and unite the human spirit was the kernel of inspiration that began the conversation some 10 years ago that is now Hogfish. Edwin and Matthew Cahill are engaging in the process of communing with artists, nature, and community with kindness, curiosity, and utmost respect. They are passionate about telling stories with authenticity, courage and hearts that are bigger than Maine! I am thrilled that they have graciously invited me to be a part of this process as a board member, Alexander Technique teacher and performer.
